IPID 2026: TVET & University Graduate Internship Opportunities

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is looking for fresh South African graduates and TVET learners who are not currently working. They want you to join their 2026/2027 TVET & University Graduate Internship Programme. This is a paid, two‑to‑three‑year training job that will let you learn the inside of a national law‑enforcement organisation and help you start a career in public service, investigations, or office work.

Why this internship matters

IPID’s programme is more than just a summer job. It gives you real experience, a steady paycheck and a chance to see how police investigations are managed across South Africa. If you are aged 18‑35, a South African citizen, and have never taken part in a similar internship before, this could be the stepping‑stone you’ve been looking for.

The programme has two parts:

TypeLengthStipendWhere you can work
TVET Internship18 monthsR4,950 / monthNational office in Pretoria and any of the provincial offices
Graduate Internship24 monthsR6,050 / monthSame places as TVET interns

Both internships run in every province, so you can stay close to home or move to Pretoria if you want to work at the national level.

Who can apply

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Not be employed at the time of application
  • Have never taken part in an IPID internship before
  • Hold one of the following qualifications:
    • A TVET N6 certificate (public administration)
