Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must meet all of these points:
- Be a South African citizen living in the Eastern Cape.
- Have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) and be accepted or already studying for a Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma.
- Be registered at a public university or college.
- Come from a household that earns less than R467,790 a year.
- Provide proof that you live in the Eastern Cape.
Minimum NSC grades (where required):
- English (home language or first additional language): Level 5 / 4
- Mathematics: Level 5
- Mathematical Literacy: Level 6
- Accounting: Level 6
- Economics: Level 6
If you are a student with a disability, you should list the type of disability and attach supporting documents.
What Documents Do You Need?
Send an application letter that says “ECPT/BURSARIES/2026” in the subject line, along with certified copies of these items:
- Your admission or registration letter.
- South African ID.
- Final academic results.
- Proof of your parents’ or guardian’s income (e.g., tax return, pay slip).
- Proof of your address (e.g., utility bill).
If your parents have passed away, include a certified copy of the death certificate and an affidavit naming your legal guardian.
