Transnet 2026 Learnerships – Start Your Non‑Technical Career Today

Transnet, a big South African freight and logistics company, is hiring students and new graduates for its Work Integrated Non‑Technical Learner Programme 2026. This is an 18‑month work‑learning program that will take place at either the Cape Town or Saldanha terminals. You’ll get a chance to see how a large transport company runs, learn new skills, and work on real projects while still studying or just finished school.

Who We’re Looking For

If you are a South African citizen, 18‑35 years old, and have finished high school (matric) with a good N6 qualification in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a similar field, this job is for you. We do not want people who owe a scholarship to another company, and you should be able to bring a copy of your ID, matric, academic records and a letter from your TVET college showing you’ve done some practical learning.

We especially want to give chances to people with disabilities, so if you fall into that group you’ll have a great chance of being selected.

What The Program Looks Like

The 18‑month program is split into different parts. You’ll start with training and then jump into everyday work. Your main job will be to help with projects in Corporate Affairs and other related tasks. This could mean writing reports, keeping records, and doing basic data analysis. You’ll also get to chat with customers, suppliers, and teammates. Each month you’ll share what you’ve done with your manager and ask questions when you need help.

Learning Opportunities

  • Attend workshops and training sessions to build professional skills.
  • Shadow experienced workers so you can see what they do.
  • Work on small problem‑solving projects to sharpen your thinking.

Skill Development

  • Write clear reports and make presentations with MS Office tools.
  • Keep track of company policies and safety rules.
  • Learn how to work well with others and give good feedback.

Locations

There are two possible sites: the Cape Town terminal or the Saldanha terminal. You can work at either place as long as you’re willing to travel to that terminal.

Why Join Transnet?

Transnet is South Africa’s main state‑owned freight network. They run trains, ports, and pipelines that help the country trade and grow. By joining, you’ll be part of a company that values learning and gives people the chance to grow into professional roles.

What You Need to Bring

  • Strong writing and speaking skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • A team spirit.
  • Good problem‑solving ability.
  • Attention to details.
  • A desire to learn new things.
  • Kind and respectful behavior toward coworkers.
