SAFRIPOL 2026 Community Bursaries – Internship & Career Opportunities

The SAFRIPOL Community Bursary is a special scholarship that will help talented students from KwaZulu‑Natal study engineering in 2026. If you live in Wentworth, Jacobs, or Bluff and want to become a chemical, electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical engineer, you might be able to get money to cover tuition, books and living expenses while you study full‑time at a recognized university in South Africa.

What the Bursary Covers

You can apply for one of four engineering subjects:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

The scholarship is only available to people who are citizens of South Africa and who live in one of the three listed towns. You must be a high‑school graduate or still in your final year of high school, and you need to have a place or an offer at a university that is recognized by the government.

How You’ll Be Picked

The SAFRIPOL Bursary Committee will look at three things:

  1. Your Admission Point Score (APS) – This is the score you earned in high school that shows how ready you are for university.
  2. Your grades so far – Your most recent results matter a lot.
  3. The engineering field you chose – Some subjects may be more competitive than others.

If you pass all the tests, the committee will confirm the amount of money you can get once the university has officially accepted you for the 2026 academic year.

Who Can Apply

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Live in Wentworth, Jacobs, or Bluff.
  • Have finished high school or be in your final year.
  • Plan to study one of the listed engineering subjects.
  • Be accepted or be in the process of being accepted at a recognized South‑African university.

Missing any of these points means you can’t get the bursary.

What You Need to Send

The application asks for a number of documents, all of which must be recent (no more than 3 months old) and certified copies if possible:

  • ID document
  • Grade 11 report and latest high‑school results (if still in high school)
  • Matric certificate (if you’re done)
