Armscor External Bursary Programme 2026 – What It Is and How to Get It
Armscor, the company that builds South Africa’s defence equipment, is looking for bright students who are ready to study science and engineering. If you’re a South African, have a strong math and science background, and want to help make weapons and technology for the country, this bursary could give you a full scholarship to a public university. The bursary is open to people from families that don’t earn much – if your household income is below R1 000 000 a year, you can apply. The deadline is 28 February 2026, so don’t wait.
Why Armscor Gives Bursaries
Armscor needs people who can design, build, and maintain advanced equipment for the defence sector. By paying for tuition, books, and living expenses, they can help students from disadvantaged backgrounds get the skills they need. If you finish your degree in one of the fields listed below, you’ll be ready for a career with Armscor or another company that works on science and engineering projects.
What You’ll Study
The bursary covers a wide range of subjects. These are the areas that Armscor is most interested in:
- Aeronautical Engineering – the study of aircraft and how they fly
- Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics – the building blocks of the natural world
- Electronics and Electrical Engineering – how to create and control electrical systems
- Human Kinetics & Ergonomics Science – the science of movement and design for comfort
- Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence – building software and keeping data safe
- Physics and Astrophysics – understanding the universe and energy
- Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering – designing machines that work together
- Naval and Marine Engineering – building ships and underwater equipment
If you’re already studying one of these subjects at a recognised public university in South Africa, you can use the bursary to finish your degree.
What the Bursary Pays For
The scholarship covers most of what a student needs:
- Full tuition fees for the course
- Rent and meals while you’re on campus
- All the textbooks and supplies you need
- A living allowance so you can focus on your studies
- Paid work experience during holidays (if available)
Because you get everything you need, you can concentrate on your studies and not worry about money.

- Come from a household that earns less than R1 000 000 a year
