What You Need to Qualify
- Finished Grade 12 or higher.
- A valid Code 10 driver’s licence with PDP (Passenger Driving Permit).
- Preferably at least three years of bus‑driving experience – this helps but isn’t mandatory.
- You’ll need to pass a driving test before the job starts.
Daily Tasks
If you’re selected, your job will include:
- Driving students to and from the schools on set routes.
- Keeping students safe while they get on, travel, and get off the bus.
- Talking politely to students, parents, and teachers.
- Checking the vehicle before and after every trip to catch problems early.
- Reporting any mechanical issues and arranging for repairs.
- Taking part in safety drills and writing reports.
- Picking up and sending mail, parcels, and school documents.
- Buying and transporting equipment and groceries for the schools.
- Driving students to clinics or hospitals when the school needs it.
- Keeping records of routes, mileage, fuel use, and other trip details.
- Helping out with general customer‑service tasks when required.

Key Things to Remember
- Only use the Z83 form from the start of 2021 (download it at https://www.dpsa.gov.za/newsroom/psvc/).
- Submit a completed Z83 form plus a thorough CV.
- The Department will ask for certified copies of your documents only if you get a shortlist.
- Applications after 9 January 2026 or sent by fax won’t be taken into account.
- You’ll need a clean background check and a security clearance before the job starts.
