SAMRC Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Regulatory Internship Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is 24 October 2025.
🌐 About the Programme
The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is the main research body in South Africa that looks after health science. They have started a new project called the Medical Device and Diagnostic Innovation Cluster (MeDDIC).
meDDIC is a country‑wide team that works with:
- Technology Innovation Agency (TIA)
- Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI)
The goal is simple: help South Africa build a strong, safe, and competitive market for health gadgets and medical tests.
To reach that goal, SAMRC is running a Regulatory Internship Programme (GIPD). This internship gives young graduates a chance to learn how rules and standards keep medical devices and diagnostics safe for people to use.
Interns will get hands‑on training over six months in places like:
- Small and medium‑sized medical companies (SMMEs)
- Science research councils
- Universities that work on medical device design, building, or quality checks
By working in real projects, you’ll learn how to make sure a new medical device works, is safe, and follows both South African laws and the international rules that keep people protected.
